Many hikers enjoy the trails in the Dunmore Reservoir in Pennsylvania. When two teenage boys went for an ATV ride near the reservoir, they found something in the woods that looked out of place, and they began to investigate. Little did they know just how important their discovery was.
Teenage Heros
18-year-old Joe Delvecchio and 15-year-old Alec Yanisko were riding an ATV near the reservoir’s nature trail when they spotted something odd. They saw an SUV about a quarter mile from the nearest road, an area where cars aren’t usually seen. The windows of the SUV were smashed and the vehicle appeared to be stuck on a log.
Joe and Alec approached the car and began to search the area. They reached inside of unlocked car and found a Sam’s Club card with the name Edwin Kosik on it. When the teenagers typed the name into Google, an array of recent news articles popped up. Edwin was a local judge who had been missing for several days.
The teens rushed home to tell their parents what they had found. They called the police, then led officers back to the SUV. Police found the 92-year-old judge not far from his car, lying on the ground. He was taken to the hospital to be treated after spending two days lost in the woods. The teens didn’t witness the judge’s rescue, but they said they hope to meet him when he is fully recovered.
