The Dangers Of Weight Loss Supplements
A 25-year-old father from Suffolk almost died after using a weight loss supplement. Lewis Brown was desperate for the perfect beach body, so he took extreme measures. He took steroids, along with a large amount of DNP pills to help him lose excess fat and build more muscle. The fat burners had a detrimental effect on his body.
His body temperature increased to 107 degrees Fahrenheit and his body began cooking from the inside out. When he drove himself to the hospital, he was ordered to drink charcoal to soak up the chemicals, but they were already attacking his body.
Doctors at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge placed Lewis is a coma and covered him in ice. When his muscles started to die, doctors called his family in to say goodbye. He spent three days in a coma and a week in intensive care. Doctors performed three operations on Lewis to cut out his entire muscle at the front of his left leg.
Lewis miraculously survived. He said, “I was so out of it about getting bigger that I thought I was unstoppable. I just wanted to be better than anyone else.”
He explained, “I was hoping the steroids would keep the muscles, but the tablets would strip the fat. I took three in the morning and I didn’t feel anything for a few hours, so stupidly I took another five.”
The 25-year-old recalled seeing a story about people who had died from taking DNP. He said he assumed they just “weren’t taking it right.” Lewis says the life-threatening experience changed him for the better. “I was a different person then – everyone has said. All I was interested in was getting bigger and I just didn’t know what I was doing. I’m just lucky that I’m still alive.”
What Is DNP?
DNP or 2,4-Dinitrophenol is a controversial fat burner that was banned in 1983 due to severe side effects. DNP is extremely powerful. It can result in a full pound of body fat loss per day. It’s also extremely dangerous. Some of its side effects include cataracts, skin lesions, hypothermia, severe brain damage and death.
Natural Alternatives To Diet Pills
As stated, there is no quick fix when it comes to getting healthy or losing weight. Drink plenty water and cut out soda and other sugary drinks. Remove all processed foods from your diet and replace them with healthy, whole foods. Last but not least, get moving! If you want to give your metabolism a boost, use natural methods.
